DRAFT MINUTES

May 10, 2011

The regular meeting of the Sylvan Township Board was held May 10, 2011 at the Sylvan Township Hall, 18027 Old US 12, Chelsea, MI 48118.

 

Members present: Supervisor Lange, Clerk Koch, Treasurer Grau, Trustees Lesser and Cooper.

 

Also present: Attorney Peter Flintoft and several Township residents.

 

The meeting was called to order and the pledge recited.

 

Motion by Lesser, seconded by Grau to approve regular and special minutes as presented. Carried unanimously.

 

Motion by Koch, seconded by Lesser to pay bills as presented. Carried unanimously.

 

No Public Hearing.

 

Public Participation –Several residents ask questions regarding the proposed Outdoor Gathering Ordinance and status of the lawsuit and possible township millage.

 

The report from Zoning Inspector Caplis showed 2 zoning compliance permit, 1 enforcement actions and 0 certificate of occupancy for April 2011.

 

Mike Jurosek representative to the Sylvan Township Water & Sewer Authority submitted a report and informed the public of the Leoni sewer rate increase.

 

Supervisor Lange reported on the status of the Leoni Regional Authority.

 

Treasurer Grau submitted the settlement sheet to the Board.

 

Old Business:

 

Western Washtenaw Recycle Authority special assessment was discussed with no action.

 

New Business:

 

Motion by Cooper, seconded by Grau to appoint LuAnn Koch as Delegate and Scott Baird as Alternate to the Sylvan Township Water & Sewer Authority. Roll call vote, all ayes, Carried unanimously.

 

Motion by Lesser, seconded by Grau to approve the Variance for the Heroes on the Water to launch 50 kayaks for their one day event on June 12, 2011. Roll call – all ayes – carried unanimously.

 

Motion by Lesser, to approve the Outdoor Gathering Permit failed for a lack of a second.

 

Motion by Cooper to table the Outdoor Gathering Permit failed for a lack of a second.

 

Motion by Cooper, seconded by Grau to approve the Fireworks Permit for Bollingers. Carried unanimously.

 

Attorney Flintoft gave an update on the status of the litigation and the possible township millage.

 

Motion by Lesser, seconded by Grau to adjourn. Carried unanimously.
