A special meeting of the Sylvan Township Board was called by Supervisor Williams on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 10AM at the Sylvan Township Hall, 18027 Old US 12, Chelsea, MI 48118 to discuss settlement parameters with Township Attorney.
The following board members were present: Supervisor Williams, Clerk Koch, Treasurer Grau, Trustees Merkel and Solo.
Also present: Jerry Dresselhouse, Attorney Ron Richards.
Meeting was called to order at 10AM being properly noticed and posted.
Motion by Williams, seconded by Grau to go into closed session at 10:02am, to discuss a confidential written legal opinion of the Townships Attorney and to consult with the Townships Attorney regarding trial or settlement strategy in connection with specific, pending litigation, Sylvan Crossing v Sylvan Township, where an open meeting would have a detrimental financial effect on the litigation or settlement position of the Township, and because Jerry Dresselhouse is also a named defendant in the litigation, to invite Mr. Dresselhouse along with the Township’s Attorney. Roll call vote – all ayes – Carried.
Open session returned at 12 Noon. Motion by Solo, seconded by Merkel to proceed to settlement conference with Township Attorneys recommendation. Carried.
Motion by Solo, seconded by Grau to adjourn. Carried.
